Welcome to Poor Robert’s (Wine) Almanac

I dedicate this site to all the wine drinkers and new winemakers, not old line professionals.  “Poor Robert’s” will provide interesting wine related stuff with links to other (detailed) information that helps all who love wine understand wine terminology, varieties, history, and stylistic differences.  I am not trying to turn wine lovers into experts or critics, but rather to create a place where all can get reliable information enabling a better understanding of the wine world and an enhanced personal enjoyment of the various styles of wines.

At this point in this sites evolution, I am pretty happy with its appearance and content, but like all things in life nothing is perfect and everything can be improved. So with the advent of my retirement from my 44 year career in the “real” world, I am giving this site a face lift and working on significantly upgrading my web development and blogging skills. Stay tuned. I know you will like what you see.  By the way, I still love the feedback.

Thanks. I really appreciate the encouragement. PRWA is still a work in progress and some times it seems that it will never stop. Well it won’t but that’s okay as long as you and others enjoy and maybe learn something from the site.

  3. Okay, I forgot one last thing, so I’m replying again. If you get the chance, try Mondavi Moscato D’Oro and let me know what you think. It takes like flowers – it’s so amazing and refreshing. Hope you get to try it!

  4. I moved from Denver, Colo., to a small town in Indiana and one thing I’ve noticed is the lack of a good wine selection. There is one or two stores in town that take a chance and order wines beyond what the grocery stores carry, but they mark up the prices so you pay more than you really should. I’ve enjoyed finding and reading your blog, Robert! Found you through the Kindness Challenge. Keep up the good work! http://www.dianeweidenbenner.com

Thanks for stopping by. I love the word “Grapist” (I have not idea how to properly spell it) and I am going to figure out how to incorporate in the my blog’s theme. It is after all written for grapists, the inquisitive but not devout wine tasters who simply want to learn a little about the beverage they choose to drink from time to time.

When I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on whenever a
comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.

Is there an easy method you can remove me from that
    service? Cheers!

Off Cancer — Try this: go to the original post you commented on and see if you can find your original comment and by hovering on the space right below your last line of type you should see your original selection or an edit option. That should let you change the selection. If that doesn’t work I dig deeper with the WordPress staff and see if there is an internal fix for it. Here’s hoping!!

I am not a developer and can’t help, but if you’re like me why change if it’s working for you. I’d go to the help BBs for WordPress and ask there, they have been very helpful in developing mine.

Gerry — I don’t have the page open, but there should be a “follow” option at the bottom of the page (if not look on the right side) and then you will get an e-mail link as soon as I post. I’ll also be posting a link to Naked Newbies and the Pearly Gates Groups as I post them. You mentioned being interesting in blogging, if you want to guest post any time let me know the more the merrier and the more interesting it will become.
